Where procrastination comes from

There’s no doubt about it: for so many of us, procrastination wreaks havoc in our lives. It’s one of the biggest motivating factors behind the enquiries that we receive about our time management training here at Cerulean, and when you look at the damage that it can wreak, it’s no wonder. No one wants to procrastinate, and yet, it inevitably happens time and time again. How can you finally break the spell?

Another fresh start? Why resolutions don’ t work, but goals do!

Why do resolutions so often fail? Resolutions can be described as a form of ‘cultural procrastination’ – an attempt to reinvent ourselves and break old or bad habits. If we are not really prepared to follow these behavioural changes through, we invariably fail. This propensity to fail in our resolutions is compounded by our tendency to set unrealistic and unachievable resolutions. We think that a better way of approaching this New Year’s Resolution business is by NOT making resolutions but instead make New Year’s Goals.
